The job holder is usually given a territory for which he is made responsible for sales target achievement and building relations. The job holder is required to handle the retail market, Stockiest and the distribution aspects for his territory.
The incumbent plans the sales volume & distribution for the defined area & ensures that the same is achieved through various stockiest / interim sales representatives IRSs & Rural Sales promoters (RSP). The incumbent has to ensure that Area Manager is kept informed about the performance within his territory and all the market developments in the allotted region. He is required to develop a plan to attain the agreed targets under the guidance and support of his superior and execute the same. The incumbent needs to ensure that the necessary infrastructure is in place to deliver business results as per plan.
The incumbent also does micro level planning on enhancing various distribution aspects of the business i.E. Coverage, availability, productivity, RSP performance standards, availability for the defined geography. He also needs to ensure of stock rotation to keep the freshness of the stocks. The incumbent is also responsible for executing the market & sales developmental activities planned for the region. The responsibility of communicating the sales plan, distributional plan, sales promotional inputs to his area of stockiest, the incumbent ensures that the financial discipline & market hygiene discipline is maintained by the stockiest in his territory.
The job holder is also required to ensure that the channel partners (stockists and the retailers) are kept motivated and the focus is on building continuous relationship. The incumbent guides, trains & develops the team of Stockiest, Stockists Salesmen, Interim sales representatives & Rural sales promoters.
He is involved in recruiting RSPs & ISRs & training them on topics like Range selling, Productivity, stockiest management, selling skills etc... Internally the incumbent is required to interact with Area Manager, Regional Manager, Regional promotions Officer on issues related to competitors activities, efficacy of sales promotional execution, new product launch & product related issues. Externally, the incumbent liaisons with Distributors, Retailers, Wholesalers during field visits and also with various Trade Associations & Sales promotional agencies.
