Job Description (JD) - Laundry Attendant
# Under general supervision, to collect, transport, sort, weigh, and count laundry; to operate laundry equipment; and to do other work as required.
Examples Of Essential Duties:
Collects or receives bags of soiled laundry from houses or institutional units and transports to laundry; sorts laundry according to type and weighs laundry to insure proper load level for washing machines and records poundage.
Transports laundry between various laundry operations; may operate washers, extractors, conditioners, flatwork ironers, and pressers; sorts and counts finished laundry and delivers to appropriate storage areas.
Keeps laundry machinery and area clean by dusting, sweeping, mopping, and wiping; may be required to instruct trustees or juveniles in laundry techniques.
May be required to make minor repairs to clothing or linen items.
Min Skills : Ability to: Read and write English at a level required for successful job performance; follow oral and written directions; learn machine operations, procedures, and techniques of laundry work; keep simple records.
Education : Generally, No specific education or experience is needed to start working as a Laundry attendant,
